Since embarking on this whole meatless 5 days a week thing, I've been on the hunt for the perfect veggie burger. I'm not really the best at making them so I opt for the frozen variety. When I discovered Amy's California Burger I was pleasantly surprised. For one, I'm not a fan of veggie burgers that try to taste like meat and this one definitely doesn't. It sort of has the taste of seitan, with lentil, and a good amount of seasoning.
If you know me, you know about my obsession with burgers. If I could eat one food for the rest of my life, it'd definitely be a cheeseburger. My favorite are black and blues. Last week when I was craving one I decided to doll up one of the Amy's California Veggie Burgers that I had in my freezer. It definitely hit the spot. I think you'll enjoy it.
Black & Blue Veggie Burger
makes 1
1 Amy's Organic California Burger
1 hamburger bun
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 tbsp crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce
1 tsp olive oil
Place the frozen veggie burger on a plate and microwave for 30 seconds. Remove from microwave. In a small bowl mix together oregano, paprika, and cayenne. Sprinkle this mixture on both sides of the veggie burger.
Place a olive oil in a saute pan and bring heat to medium. Add veggie burger and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until it starts to crisp. Turn off heat. Add Gorgonzola to top of the burger, cover with a lid and let it sit covered for an additional minute. Add to bun with your favorite toppings and a dash or three of your favorite hot sauce.

My favorite Amy's product is the pizzas. I also like the refried beans too.
